I was thinking on this issue last evening and I searched the net for some information. Your blog came up in my research and I'm impress what you have wrote on this theme. As I'm currently expanding my search and thus cannot add further, however, I've bookmarked it and will be returning to further comment. Like I said, love this comment and will be back before long.

I think I need a 12-step program for this one -- I think I'm at step 1: Acknowledge the problem and and now figuring out the next steps.

Carr's book and Bob's review reinforce some of the issues I see in the market research my firm has conducted on technology in K-12 education. Schools and the companies that make educational materials (publishers, etc) are increasingly pushing technology in education -- eBooks, electronic testing, etc -- which is great in some respects but very worrisome in other respects. As more and more learning is technology-enabled or driven, what's the risk to future generations.

Bob: Part of me enjoys the availability/easy access to information, part of me says "no mas." For me, I am just beginning to discpline myself to shut off and I am not talking about the actual technology, I am talking about when I am on line, limiting myself to how many links I will click on since I know my little brain can only absorb so much on a daily basis.
